History
San Joaquin Drug was started in 2000 by owners Mike and Mary Bass. They started a tradition of caring for the whole community they served and brought services to the underserved areas of Planada and Le Grand. Under their direction, San Joaquin Drug became a strong business and pillar in the community. They began hosting an annual Health Fair as a way to continue to bring services to their community. The business was truly a family business as all three of their daughters and many other relatives worked to make the business a success. San Joaquin Drug has employed many local Planada and Le Grand residents and has continued to provide career growth to those currently employed and to students hoping to enter the profession one day. San Joaquin Drug has continued on its mission of community and pharmacy excellence in its successive owner, Katie Bass. Katie has grown San Joaquin Drug to be more clinical and has integrated services like immunizations and point of care testing. She has been recognized as a Merced Sunstar's Top 20 under 40 in 2018. In 2021, she was awarded the Bowl of Hygeia from the California Pharmacists Association for her work in the community during COVID. In 2022, the pharmacy was awarded Independent Pharmacy Cooperation's Pharmacy of the Year. San Joaquin Drug prides itself in meeting the needs of the community it serves and plans to carry on that tradition for years to come. We know our patients by name, not prescription number.
